Leading political theorist on democracy and Sydney University Professor John Keane is the guest of the ninth program of the seminar series “A Common Horizon for Humanity and the Planet”, which will be broadcasted live on the Cappadocia University YouTube channel on Monday, March 28 at 13:00 pm (Turkish Time). Professor Keane has a particular interest in democracy and representation. He is the author of many books including “Whatever happened to Democracy (2002)”, “Global Civil Society (2003)”, “Violence and Democracy (2004)”, “The Life and Death of Democracy (2009)”, “Democracy and Media Decadence (2013)”, “Refiguring Democracy: The Spanish Political Laboratory (2017)” and “The New Despotism (2020)”. Many of his books have been translated into Turkish, including "Civil Society and the State", "The Media and Democracy", "Violence and Democracy" and "The New Despotism".
The conversation will be on the topic of “Do we live in an age of uncertainty?”. The program will be moderated by Professor Burak Özçetin of the Bilgi University.
